The third generation of the SEAT Leon hatchback will make its world debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show and with it SEAT aims to aggressively target the compact family car segment in Europe. Alongside the Leon five-door hatchback will be SEAT’s production ready Toledo notchback and Mii FR Line Concept.
Both SE and the sporty FR version of the SEAT Leon will be on display at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The third generation Leon seeks to offer more choices to buyers than ever before with different versions. A three-door SC hatchback version and ST estate version will be introduced later.
The new car is approximately 90kg lighter than the previous car while offering more leg room and boot space than the second generation car it replaces.
The SEAT Leon’s top-of-the-line 1.8 TSI petrol engine churns out 180PS of power while the diesel version develops 150PS of power.
The third generation SEAT Leon becomes the first hatchback to feature full LED headlamps. The car also features new driver assistance systems (including driver drowsiness detection and lane keeping assistance), a new infotainment system and soft touch plastics in the interiors. UK versions will get a colour touch screen for the infotainment system that with touch based stereo controls and Bluetooth connectivity.
The sporty Leon FR will boast of a SEAT Drive Profile that will give the driver different settings to control the characteristics of the steering wheel, throttle pedal and even the exhaust note for sportier driving. The Leon FR will be equipped with a DSG automatic gearbox. In sport mode even the dials of the car will turn red!

SEAT will showcase a more practical version of the Leon in the form of the Toledo notchback. The Toledo has a full sized 550-litre boot (compared to the Leon’s 380 litres) and to further its appeal the Toledo will be priced below some of its hatchback rivals.
The SEAT Toledo will be available with a host of petrol and diesel engines, the most economical of which will be a 1.6-litre diesel engine that will generate 105PS of power. The Toledo range will comprise of E, S, SE, Ecomotive S and Ecomotive SE variants. Prices are expected to start around £12,500 (Rs 10,81,000) in the UK.
SEAT will also be showcasing the Mii FR Line concept at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The Mii FR Line concept is SEAT’s attempt at making a sporty looking compact city car. The Mii FR concept gets 16-inch aluminium wheel with a red outer pinstripe, black highlights on the side skirts lower section of the bumpers, wheel arches and tailgate. The dashboard, steering wheel, gear lever, door lining, sports seats and floor mats get red inserts to further the super mini’s sporty appeal.
The 2012 Paris Motor Show will also witness the unveiling of the new streamlined ‘S’ SEAT logo that will adorn the grille, steering wheel and tailgate of every new SEAT vehicle.
