As mentioned earlier, this news comes in after a remarkable performance from Royal Enfield in the recently concluded financial year that saw it overtake Yamaha as the fifth largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India.

Royal Enfield’s sales volumes have grown by as much as 50 percent in each of the past four years. The company is in the process of setting up a third plant in Vallam Vadagal near Oragadam that will increase its production capacity to 9,00,000 units by 2018.

The company is currently riding high on the overwhelming response to its recently launched 410cc adventure tourer, the Royal Enfield Himalayan. Priced at Rs 1.78 lakh (ex-showroom Maharashtra), the bike is a welcome addition to Royal Enfield’s portfolio that includes the likes of the Classic, Thunderbird, Continental GT and Standard.
