Royal Enfield purchases Harris Performance

Royal Enfield announced today that it has acquired UK based Harris Performance Products Ltd. It was Harris Performance that was for responsible for chassis development of the Continental GT cafe racer motorcycle and is associated with Royal Enfield in the development of the upcoming Himalayan adventure tourer motorcycle. Harris Performance was founded over 40 years ago by Steve and Lester Harris along with Stephen Bayford. They are among the leading experts in designing and manufacturing of specialised high performance motorcycle chassis and components. As part of the acquisition, Royal Enfield will acquire all assets, employees, trade names, technical know-how and intellectual property of Harris Performance Products Ltd. Harris Performance is also the only manufacturer from UK to have been officially commissioned by Yamaha and Suzuki to design, develop and manufacture race bikes for Grand Prix and World Superbike racing.

Speaking about the acquisition, Siddhartha Lal, CEO Royal Enfield said: “Royal Enfield is working on its new generation of products and platforms; to have the Harris Performance team dedicatedly working with us will clearly enhance our engineering and product design capabilities. Their proven expertise, deep insight and understanding of motorcycling and Royal Enfield will be invaluable for us in our journey towards achieving leadership in the global mid-sized motorcycling segment. All of the current staff at Harris Performance will now become employees of Royal Enfield, taking responsibility of performance and development engineering for our new range of motorcycles. They will be part of Royal Enfield’s upcoming UK Tech Centre.”
