Royal Enfield Himalayan spotted testing again

Royal Enfield’s upcoming 400cc adventure bike Himalayan has been spotted testing once again in Chennai.

The latest spy shots show the bike being tested and details have emerged like a new exhaust end-can and a dual speedometer, similar to the existing unit of the Thunderbird.

The 2015 Royal Enfield Himalayan is expected to be powered by a 410cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine. The engine could be a bored out version of the company’s current 350cc engine, but it is reported to have far more torque than any of the current Royal Enfield motorcycles offer.

The new bike sports a completely redesigned tank which will have large capacity to offer better range. The telescopic front forks will have more travel and have been covered with fork gaiters to provide protection to the fork seals from dirt and grime. The bike also employs a monoshock rear suspension, the first Royal Enfield to come equipped with one.

The frame seems to be carried forward from the Royal Enfield Continental GT, but a rear subframe can be seen in the spy shot as well, suitably reinforced for carrying luggage on long hauls. The Himalayan is expected to be Royal Enfield’s new flagship product and in all likelihood, will be priced around Rs 2.5 lakhs. The Himalayan is expected to be launched later this year.
