Renault Kwid - New Hatchback to Launch on September 24th

Renault will launch its new global compact hatch back –Kwid tomorrow in the Indian market. The Renault Kwid is among the most exciting new launches for 2015 and bookings for the upcoming car had started few weeks prior to launch. The new Kwid will be the first small Hatchback from the French carmaker for the Indian market. The sub-4 metre hatchback is expected to be priced between Rs 3 to 4.5 lakh (ex-showroom). For a car at its price, the Kwid is expected to come loaded with features. It gets a all-digital instrument cluster, a touch screen infotainment system with AUX and USB connectivity, power windows for the front two passengers, central locking and more.

The Renault Kwid has a tall design, said to imitate an SUV like stance. The front deign is most interesting with a large Renault badge prominently positioned on the chunky front grille. Powering the Kwid is a 800cc 3-cylinder petrol engine, mated to a newly developed 5-speed manual gearbox. This 3-pot mill develops 54PS of power at a fairly decent 5,678rpm and max torque is rated at 72Nm at 4,386rpm. Since the car weighs just 660kg, it gets an impressive power to weight ratio of 85PS per tonne.  Renault has received an ARAI certified efficiency figure of 25.17kmpl, which makes it the most efficient petrol car in the country. The Renault Kwid hatchback will rival the Maruti Alto and the Hyundai Eon.
