Oroch is a recreational pickup truck concept based on the Renault Duster

Renault Duster Oroch concept revealed at Sao Paulo

You may have seen a limited run Duster pickup built for a private firm a few weeks ago, but the Duster Oroch concept has nothing to do with that. This concept is more of a recreational vehicle penned by the French Carmaker’s Latin American design centre in Sao Paulo for the Sao Paulo Motor Show. The sporty pickup concept is inspired by the ‘world of kitesurfing’ according to the Renault design centre.

The Oroch design is a lively mix of bright colours, fins-like design elements behind the rear windscreen and a covered loading bay. Since it is based on the Duster, the basic form remains but the length extends to accommodate the pickup section of the car. The car seems to ride higher courtesy larger 18 inch wheels and wider 255 section tyres that give it a sportier appearance compared to the compact Duster. Bonnet scoops and larger air dams further add to the Duster Oroch’s beefy appearance.

There’s little to play around with on the inside but brighter contrast colours and some snazzy aircon vents add some spice to this dune loving concept. It’s still a concept showcasing the local design centre’s capabilities for the Brazilian market with no real intention to bring it to production. If it does garner enough positive response at Sao Paulo though, the pick could be considered for other emerging markets. The Duster is a popular car in India with the 4WD version finally being launched here. The Indian car market to an extent mirrors the Brazilian market so it is interesting to see the cars that are revealed at Sao Paulo this week.
