The Range Rover Sport SVR will sport a 550PS V8 engine making it the most powerful Land Rover ever.

Range Rover Sport SVR front

Land Rover has just taken the wraps off the most powerful car it has ever made. The Range Rover SVR will make its official debut at the upcoming Pebble Beach 2014 Concours d’elegance and will feature a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine producing 550PS of peak power. The Range Rover Sport SVR will be able to achieve the 0-100kmph sprint in just 4.5-seconds with a limited top speed of 260kmph. The Range Rover Sport SVR has also set a blistering lap time of 8 minutes 14 seconds around the fearsome Nurburgring circuit making it one of the fastest production SUVs ever.

The Range Rover Sport SVR will come with JLR’s new ZF 8HP70 8-speed automatic transmission mated to an all-wheel-drive chassis that has been optimised to complement the SUV’s engine. The Range Rover Sport SVR is also equipped with a two-stage active exhaust featuring electronically controlled valves. The system offers a loud and sporty sound quality while offering the performance to match. While at high revs the SVR offers near ‘race-car’ levels of exhaust note, the electronic exhaust valves allow the luxury SUV to be quiet while at slower city speeds.

On the exterior front, the Range Rover Sport SVR incorporates a much more aggressive look as compared to the standard car with larger intakes up front for better looks and cooling. The rear too is festooned with the SVR calling card: a quad tipped sport exhaust system. The optional and extremely large 22-inch wheels with 295/40 R22 tyres or the standard 21-inch wheels with 275/45 R21 go well with the aggressive looks and offer the best possible performance for this powerful SUV.

The Range Rover Sport SVR though is not only an on-road SUV. It still features all the off-road function that allows its drivers to take it almost anywhere. The Range Rover Sport comes standard with adjustable air suspension, low-range 4x4 and terrain response systems.

The Range Rover Sport SVR will be launched in India sometime early next year and will be priced at over Rs 2 Crore.
