The Indian National Racing Championship concluded with Hari Krishnan Rajagopalan of Team Honda Ten10 Racing team winning the Pro-Stock 165 class. On Sunday, the second day of the event, Jagan Kumar (TVS Racing) blazed through the Super Sports Indian category during the Rolon round of the championship at the Kari Motor Speedway,.

Hari, the 22-year-old rider from Chennai, raced bravely despite a cramped right hand and endured the discomfort throughout the race till he clinched the title in the 165 class Pro-Stock category. The racer enjoyed a double victory, winning both the first and second day’s races.

Like Hari, 13-year-old Aaron Gunawardena from Sri Lanka won both the races in the Suzuki Gixxer Cup Novice category. Aaron rode to beat riders who were much older and experienced than him and so marked a powerful debut for himself in the Gixxer Cup.

In an upsetting turn of events, Deepak Ravikumar (of Team RACR), who won Saturday’s race, crashed out, giving way to Harry Sylvester, Hari’s teammate, and letting him grab the second spot. Sarath Kumar eventually stood at third place on his Honda.

Speaking of his victory, Jagan said, “I had a good start and opened up a big lead. As others behind me were fighting for positions, I could increase the lead and then eased off over the last five laps.”

Hari Krishna commented on his victory despite the injured arm: “Because of the pumped arm, my right hand tended to become numb and I could hardly feel the brake pedal, but I somehow managed to hold on and win.”

The second day of the race also saw a few crashes, which led to the cancellation of the day’s last two races. One of the riders participating in the Suzuki Gixxer Cup Open category crashed at Turn-2 and was rushed to a nearby hospital, to be discharged later, after a precautionary check-up. After one more rider slid out and got injured, the authorities called it a day with two more races remaining. The race was red flagged by authorities on the grounds of safety since only one ambulance remained available instead of two that is mandated.
