Porsche Middle East breaks sales records

Porsche AG sold 1,18,867 vehicles in the Middle East during the year 2011, smashing all previous sales records. Such was the brands popularity that even the old 911 saw a 21% rise in sales

Established in 1999 the Middle East regional office of Porsche AG is celebrating its most successful year for car sales. The year 2011 saw a 16% rise in sales over that of 2010. Porsche sold 7949 vehicles in the Middle East in 2011. August 2011 was the most successful month for Porsche in Middle East with 924 cars having been delivered to customers. On a global scale Porsche sold 1,18,867 vehicles during 2011, that is a 22.2% increase in sales over 2010. 

George Wills, Managing Director of Porsche Middle East and Africa FZE, said, “2010 was already a record breaking year for us, but the 2011 performance has surpassed even that! Back in August, we celebrated our best month ever, and I hoped that 2011 overall would be a good year, but this is a fantastic tribute to the hard work of our importers; to the excellence of the brand in the region, and most of all, to the trust our customers continue to place in Porsche.”

Porsche has been receiving continuous growth in sales due to its wide and varied model line-up. Orders for the new 911 has recievecd 600 bookings already. Despite the launch of the new version of the iconic 911 Carrera, sales of the existing model saw a 31 per cent increase in 2011.

The Porsche Cayenne enjoyed a 35 per cent sales increase over 2010 figures, with a high number of pre-orders underlining demand for Porsche’s high-performance SUV, the Cayenne, which was the brand’s best selling model in 2011.

The Boxster roadster too has proven to be an attractive model with an impressive 29 per cent increase over 2010. Meanwhile, Cayman sales also increased by 29% year-on-year.

Now in its third year here, the Porsche Panamera has seen double digit growth across the region compared to 2010, especially with the Turbo, Turbo S and strikingly sporty GTS (available in March this year) models impressing clients old and new.
