Porsche Macan 2.0-litre petrol version

Porsche has launched the 2.0-litre petrol version of its mid-size luxury SUV, the Macan at 76.16 lakh (ex-showroom). The German sports car manufacturer has thereby added one more variant to the Indian Macan lineup. Bookings for the same have begun at Porsche dealerships across India, but the deliveries will only commence later this year.

The 2.0-litre Macan is aesthetically the same compared to its two higher variants. It wears the same Porsche family design language which makes it stand out of the routine SUV crowd.

Speaking of the engine the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor churns out 255PS of power and a peak torque of 370Nm that starts pouring in at as low as 1600rpm and lasts till 4500rpm. The Macan 2.0-litre is mated to a standard all-wheel-drive layout and Porsche's seven-speed dual clutch transmission. All of this lets it achieve 0-100kmph sprint in 6.7 seconds, while it tops out at 229kmph.

Speaking of the other two variants, one is a 3.0-litre diesel variant, obviously banned in the Delhi-NCR region. The other one is the Macan Turbo, a 400PS petrol SUV that isn’t as desirable for daily use. In addition to these two reasons, both of these variants are priced in the ballpark of Rs 1 crore, further bringing down their desirability quotient. So, the new 2.0-litre Macan is sure to carve a niche for itself, and it’s going to compete against the likes of BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and the Land Rover Discovery Sport.
