Porsche delivers first car in India
After becoming an independent entity in India, Porsche has delivered their first car, the Panamera Diesel to cricket legend Kapil Dev

Marking the first delivery of Porsche India, the independent entity of Porsche in the country, the company delivered a Panamera Diesel to its first customer who happened to be none other than cricket legend Kapil Dev. “The Panamera Diesel sets a benchmark in driving dynamics and comfort. The four-door vehicle is a genuine Porsche through and through paired with excellent efficiency. We are excited that Kapil Dev is the first owner of the Panamera Diesel in India and I am sure he will be thrilled by his new Porsche’s experience,” said Anil Reddi, Director, Porsche.
The Panamera Diesel is an encapsulation of a frugal yet powerful sports tourer. Under the hood is a 3.0-litre V6 oil-burner mated to an electronically controlled variable geometry turbocharger that produces 253PS of power at 3,800-4,000rpm and 550Nm of torque at 1,750-2750rpm. Power is transferred to the wheels through an eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic gearbox. The three-digit mark comes up in an impressive 6.8 seconds and while it may seem that Porsche has concentrated only on performance, the 80-litre fuel tank of the Panamera Diesel will take you 1,200 kilometres before a refill. Creature comforts are pure Porsche qualities that exude par excellence fit and finish and a price tag a tad over Rs 1 crore, ex-showroom Delhi.
Porsche, that earlier had its product portfolio in the country through third party suppliers has now set its own entity in the country as Porsche India.

I would never buy a Porsche diesel and never one with just 253 ps. Een the best powerful turbo diesel cars(latest technology) have a lag in pick up when compared to counterpart petrols, and still have a lot more noise than petrols at very high speeds. At 200 km/hour they are not very pleasant compared to petrols. Just thought i'll put in my personal experience.
