Porsche 911 Hybrid: The Long Wait

Porsche is coming to the Frankfurt Motor Show with the new turbocharged 911. While a facelift is also part of the news – new headlights with four-point DRLs, new alloy wheels, door handles and new engine cover with vertical louvers and revised taillights, the talking point is the new twin turbo six cylinder engine.
Yes the 911 goes the Twin turbo way with the new 3.0-litre six pot. It produces 370PS and 450Nm in the Carrera and 420PS and 500Nm in the Carrera S. That’s about 20PS and 60Nm of gain in performance over its predecessors. With the PDK transmission, the 911 Carrera does the 0-100kmph sprint in 4.2 seconds and the Carrera S does it in 3.9 seconds. Top Speed of 308kmph can be attained in the S.
Despite performance gains, efficiency is said to have improved by 12 percent. There’s more mechanical updates to the Carrera too. The Porsche Active Suspension Management System is standard as are new shock absorbers. The active rear-axle steering system is offered as optional equipment.
On the equipment front, the new Carrera models get Porsche Communication Management system that features a 7-inch display with gesture control, apple carplay compatibility and much improved sat-nav with real time traffic information. You also get An optional automatic speed control system which can now apply the brakes with the pre-set speed is exceeded, adaptive cruise control with coasting function, lane change assistant system and a post collision braking system.
