A Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide owned by Pope Francis has been sold in Paris to raise money for a charity for the homeless in Rome for a whopping 2,10,000 euros that sums up to Rs 1.8 crores. The bike was sold to an anonymous phone bidder.
The auctioneer Bonhams informed that the bidding for the 1,585cc bike lasted for six minutes. Willie Davidson, a former motorcycle designer had gifted this bike to the Pope last June to mark the company’s 110th anniversary.
While the bike went to a private seller, the jacket signed by the Argentinian pontiff went to an anonymous bidder from Europe for 57,500 euros that sums up to Rs 49.5 lakh.
Ben Walker, Head of motorcycles at Bonhams, informed that he was thrilled with the result achieved and was very pleased for the charity. He said that the bike would be a centrepiece of attraction in the buyer’s collection of the mean machines.
A new Super Dyna Glide which sells for about 12,000 euros was sold at a price 20 times higher, as the pope had signed his name on the Harley’s dark-brown tank.
