Daimler rolls out 20000th truck from its Indian plant

Commercial vehicle manufacturer, Daimler India has announced that it has produced 20,000 trucks from its plant at Oragadam, near Chennai. The company has managed to achieve this in a time span of just two and a half years since it commenced production of the first BharatBenz heavy-duty truck in India.

The 20,000th locally produced truck was a BharatBenz 2523C tipper which rolled off the production lines at Daimler India’s Oragadam plant. Close to 50 per cent of these 20,000 trucks have been manufactured in 2014 itself, highlighting the growth the company has witnessed in this calendar year.

Speaking on this occasion Erich Nesselhauf, CEO and Managing Director, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles stated, “By crossing the production mark of 20,000 trucks, we achieved the next milestone of our DICV success story.”

He added, “We have transformed the Indian truck industry with our modern trucks. That’s confirmed by our customers and proven by a high acceptance in the market due to excellent Quality of our products as well as best Sales and After Sales experiences.”
