Piaggio has unveiled its all-new ape City compact diesel three-wheeler passenger mobility vehicle in Kerala

Piaggio ape City compact diesel three-wheeler launched

Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd (PVPL) has launched the all-new apé City compact diesel three-wheeled urban passenger mobility vehicle, and sees this playing a role in increasing its market share. The new apé City is fitted with a 395cc diesel engine which has powered Piaggio vehicles successfully.

According to the company, the new apé City offers the best mileage in its class, superior pick-up and acceleration. Apart from offering a hand clutch facilitating superior drivability, its compact design makes it ideal for city traffic.

Speaking at the launch, Hardip Goindi, Executive Vice-President, Piaggio India Pvt Ltd, said, “At Piaggio, our emphasis has always been on value creation. Be it product design or performance. We have consistently gone to the market with our customers in mind." 

"Anticipating customer’s needs for a small, fuel efficient and comfortable three-wheeler, we conceived the apé City compact diesel to deliver exceptional value and a superior experience to our customers. Today, we are confident the apé City compact diesel will outclass others in the segment and will help consolidate our position in the three-wheeler market," he further added.

The apé City compact diesel is a strategic initiative from Piaggio to further expand its share in the three-wheeler market post the success of its ape’ City LPG three-wheeler. The company currently controls 50 per cent of the three-wheeler cargo market and over 30 per cent of the three-wheeler passenger market.

Piaggio’s manufacturing unit at Baramati, Maharashtra, has an installed capacity of over 3,00,000 three-wheelers and 80,000 four-wheelers.
