Winning the F3 car test at Ferrari Driver Academy as a prize, Parth Ghorpade became the first Indian racer to drive on Ferrari’s private track at Fiorano in Italy. The 20-year old completed 75 laps at the wheel of a Formula 3 car as he was assessed by the academy’s Director, Luca Baldisseri.

According to the Ferrari Driver Academy, Parth gained confidence gradually and showed strong ability to adapt to a car that was completely new to him. The Director of the Academy Luca Baldisseri who had supervised Parth’s test and evaluated him has formerly been a race engineer to Michael Schumacher and was a Chief Track Engineer for the Prancing Horse outfit.

On Parth’s test Baldisseri commented “I think it was a nice experience for him and I believe that guys like Parth and other talented youngsters who grow up in countries where motor sport has not yet taken root, need opportunities like this to grow and show what they can do.”

On encouraging new talent Baldisseri said, “I am always surprised when faced with the speed of young drivers, who even though relatively inexperienced, quickly learn how to exploit the machine they are given, when supported in the right way.”

The Ferrari Driver Academy has nurtured Formula 1 talent such as Sergio Perez and Jules Bianchi. Currently Parth prepares for the next round of the Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS series which will be held at the Spa circuit in Belgium from June 8-9, 2013.
