Allahabad officials have ordered that no two-wheeler can roll out of the showroom without a registration number

Only registered bikes to come out of showroom now

The Allahabad officials have ordered that no two-wheeler will roll out of showroom with registration numbers. Any violation of this order would result into stringent action by the cops including confiscation of the two-wheeler.

The officials have made the registration of motorcycles compulsory to curb the increasing number of criminal activities such as chain snatching where thieves use motorcycles without registration numbers to avoid being caught.

Commenting on this order, K S Emmanuel, SSP of Allahabad, stated, “Investigations into several such cases have pin-pointed the use of high-speed bikes sans number plates. If two-wheelers have proper registration numbers on both sides, it would help arrest the soaring graph of auto-thefts too.”

The SSP and RTO Anil Singh held a series of meetings with automobile dealers in the first week of August and asked them to upload owner's details on the booking date itself to enable issuance of registration number within 72 hours. The SSP has also warned of punitive action against those violating the orders.

The city has around 90 big and small showrooms dealing in two-wheelers and most of them had agreed to comply with the order. Around 37 cases of chain snatching and 480 cases of auto-lifting have been reported in the past seven months.
