Nissan India has recorded a staggering year-on-year growth of 158 percent in February 2012. The Nissan Sunny has been steadily cementing its reputation in the market month after month, selling 3,130 units of the sedan during the month.
In all, the company sold 5,371 units in February 2012 making it their most successful month in the country yet. Compared to February 2011 sales of 2081 units, the growth is pegged at 158 percent on a year-on-year basis. Nissan first crossed the 5,000 mark sales figure in January 2012, with a total of 5,168 units sold.
Launched in India in September 2011, the Nissan Sunny entry-level sedan contributed strongly to the sales figure with 3,130 units sold during the period, which was still less compared to January 2011 sales of 3,218 units. The Nissan Micra hatchback sold better numbers with 2,198 units delivered to customers compared to 1,855 units in January 2011. The Nissan Teana premium sedan, X-Trail SUV and 370Z sports car comprised the remaining sales.
Commenting on the continued growth Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said, “I’m delighted to see Nissan achieve our highest ever monthly sales total in India. This result reflects the growing acceptance of Nissan cars amongst Indian customers and is something we want to build on.”
