While the Swift hatchback has got timely updates, it hasn't got a generation change in a while. As per recent reports Suzuki will showcase a concept that will form the base for the next-gen Swift

2014 Maruti Suzuki Swift

With cars like the Ciaz and the S-Cross launched by Maruti Suzuki in the recent past, it would seem that the brand is focusing its energies mainly on the premium segment of cars. But it would only be fair to say that their focus on the hatchback segment continues to be undeterred.

As per recent reports, Suzuki will reveal a concept that could form the base for the next generation Swift at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show in October. Needless to say, since it is in concept form, the Swift concept will have an edgy design flaunting a lot of aero kits. The concept is expected to be powered by Suzuki’s new 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol unit that exhibits Suzuki’s Booster Jet technology. This engine technology was first unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show earlier this year. This new concept may also feature the Twin Clutch System (TCS) that is currently seen on the UK-spec S-Cross.

This new Swift Concept might also be unveiled in Hybrid form, featuring company’s S-Energy system. This hybrid system employs a large capacity lithium-ion battery that helps boost power but at the same time keeps the emissions in check.

All the manufacturers as well as potential buyers will be keeping an eye out for this concept, not just because it rolls off the Maruti stable but also since it has a legacy to live up to. Maruti Suzuki is expected to bring this concept to the 2016 Auto Expo early next year.
