New Mini five-door hatch rolls off the lines at Oxford

Mini has officially begun production of its new five-door Cooper model at its Oxford, UK plant. The five-door model is the second member of the all-new Mini family, joining the three-door Mini Cooper hatch that entered production last November.

This new five-door model is 4,000mm long, 161mm longer than the three-door model, with extra bootspace, increased to 278 litres compared to 211 litres for the three-door model. There is also 15mm more headroom and 61mm extra interior width, to make the new model more practical and family-friendly.

The five-door Mini Cooper will be powered by either a three-cylinder engine developing 136PS of power or a four-cylinder powertrain producing 192PS. The diesel options include 1.5-litre engine delivering 116PS of power and a 2.0-litre engine producing 170PS of power.

This new five-door hatch if launched in India would make for a more family-friendly option for Mini lover's of our country. Pricing for Mini's five-door hatch model will be announced closer to the car's market launch.
