If a teaser video could speak the pulse of an upcoming car, the Honda Jazz video on YouTube is a fantastic representation. The premium hatchback is all set for a June debut in the Indian market and its introduction to us in form of this teaser is the first marketing step from Honda. There is high anticipation leading to the launch of the Jazz as it was originally planned for a launch in the first quarter of the year but pushed back to let the City and the Mobilio settle in. Here is a link to the teaser video.

If you have been following our coverage of the new Jazz, you’d know by now that the mechanicals will be a mix of the Amaze and City and the design will bear closer resemblance to the City, especially on the inside. The teaser shows a new grille, a large chromed blade shaped piece stretching between the two headlamps, aggressive front bumper with fog lamps, indicators integrated in the door mirrors, and a chrome strip at the back too to indicate its premium positioning.

New Honda Jazz interior details

On the inside, the City steering wheel will be carried over, as will be the layout and the large touchscreen infotainment system that was recently introduced in the City. The Jazz will also come with an automatic gearbox, most likely the one from the City and not the Brio. As far as engine options go, the Jazz will be a sub-4 metre car and so the smaller 1.2-litre petrol will power it in India that’s good for 88PS of power. The diesel will be the ever so popular 1.5-litre diesel mill developing 100PS.

There are a lot more hopes from the new Jazz over its predecessor as the new one will be competitively priced, will come with a diesel engine and boast of the same space and packaging USPs that the earlier car had. The Honda Jazz will take on the Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo and the soon to be launched Maruti Suzuki YRA in the premium hatchback segment.
