Riders John McGuinness and Bruce Anstey will race the electric superbike at the TT Zero event at the 2015 Isle of Man TT.

Mugen’s new bike, named the Shinden Yon, “Yon” meaning “four” in Japanese, iterating the company’s fourth TT racer. The Yon is said to produce 149PS of power, 10 per cent more horsepower than its predecessor, though torque rating is the same at 220Nm.

With the additional power, the bike has also put on 10kg more weight, and the total weight of the Mugen Shinden Yon is rated at 250kg. Other details have not been released as yet, whether there will be additional batteries on the bike or change in any components.

The TT Zero event is described as a race for racing motorcycles where “the technical concept is for motorcycles (two wheeled) to be powered without the use of carbon based fuels and have zero toxic/noxious emissions.”

The 2014 TT Zero race top two podium finishes are held by John McGuinness and Bruce Anstey, both Team Mugen racers riding Shinden San bikes.
