MINI John Cooper Works Paceman

MINI has been synonymous with compact hatchbacks that are nimble and easy to drive around town. MINI has evolved as a premium compact car maker, and even has a cult following. So, what happens when a compact car maker makes the first Sports Activity Coupe? It’s so successful that MINI has manufactured the John Cooper Works Paceman. Combining sporting flair and inimitable style, the race-bred John Cooper Works Paceman’s  powertrain and chassis technology are a recipe for smile-inducing agility, and gives it an immediate, show-stealing impact.

Powering this car is a 221PS four-cylinder turbocharged engine that takes to the road with poise and assurance, courtesy its standard ALL4 all-wheel drive system that can be mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox as an alternative to the standard-fitted six-speed manual. Other highlights include reinforced pistons, low-weight crankshafts, an aluminium cylinder block and bearing mounts, and further optimisation of the cooling system, air supply and exhaust gas discharge system. Plus, the turbocharger is twinned with a generously sized intercooler. Peak torque of 280Nm is on tap between 1,900 and 5,000 rpm that can be increased to 300Nm for short periods between 2,100 and 4,500rpm using an ‘overboost’ function. This opens the door to delightfully spirited acceleration to which the standard-fitted sports exhaust system provides a properly stirring soundtrack. The new car dashes from rest to 100km/h in a trifling 6.9 seconds, regardless of the manual or automatic transmission setup. Top speed stands at 226km/h for the manual version and 224km/h for the automatic.

Also available in white and black paintjob, the exclusive Chili Red paint finish can also be specified as an option for the contrast-colour roof and exterior mirror caps.
