MINI Paceman

MINI is all set to showcase their new Paceman at the upcoming 2012 Paris Motor Show. The Paceman is MINI’s take on a Sports Activity Coupe. The Paceman is based on the Countryman with a swooping rear roof line. The roof of the Paceman is 40mm lower than that of the Countryman. MINI wants to portray the Paceman as a sportier version of the Countryman with its lower centre of gravity.

As can be seen from the pictures, the Paceman is a three-door hatchback (the Countryman is a five-door hatch) to keep up its sporty character. Standard specification for the Paceman also includes lowered sports suspension.

The Paceman will be available with a choice of four engines with power outputs ranging from 113PS to 186PS. Two of the engines will be fuelled by petrol while the other two will be diesels. MINI will offer a six-speed automatic gearbox as an option. Like its bigger brother the Paceman will have an option to be specced with MINI’s MINI ALL4 all-wheel drive system for an extra Rs 95,000.

Prices for the MINI Paceman will range from £18,970 (Rs 16,48,708) to £23,070 (Rs 20,05,420) in the UK.

There will also be a high performance John Cooper Works (JCW) Paceman in the future. No details are out yet but judging by the JCW Countryman on the cards the Paceman will have roughly 221PS of power.

The fastest MINI yet, the John Cooper Works GP will also make its world premiere at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The limited edition JCW GP is an exclusive hot hatch that has been honed at the Nurburgring. It is limited to just 2000 examples. The 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine churns out 221PS of power and 260Nm of torque, enough to allow the JCW GP to go from 0-100km/h in 6.3 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 242km/h. The hot hatch also gets adjustable coil over suspension and more powerful brakes to rein in all the power.

In addition to the world premiere of both cars MINI will also put on display the entire range of John Cooper Works cars (six in total) at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
