The 2015 Skoda Fabia recently underwent the European New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) and has managed to achieve a 5-star rating. The company stated that the 2015 Fabia was the only car to score a full 5-star rating among the 15 cars that were tested by the NCAP authorities.
The Euro NCAP awards ratings to cars after determining the amount of protection that a car can provide to its passengers in the event of a crash. The hatchback scored high across all categories such as - passenger protection for adults, child safety, safety assistance systems and pedestrian protection.
The maximum possible score was given for the protection of infants up to 18 months. The safety of children up to three years of age also received a high rating.
The 2015 Fabia comes equipped with six airbags and three point seat belts for five passengers. The new car also features assists like hill hold function, driver fatigue recognition, speed limiter and tyre pressure monitoring system.
Many Indian cars have failed the Global NCAP tests recently. Considering these results, the Indian government has planned to make crash tests compulsory in the country, and also to set up crash test facilities in both Manesar and Pune.
