Mercedes-Maybach SUV being planned to take on Bentley Bentayga

The Bentley Bentayga has showcased how there is a huge market for the ultra expensive, ultra luxurious and exclusive SUV range. In the coming few months, Rolls Royce too will showcase their luxury SUV to the world making it the most expensive and we think the most well appointed SUV in the world. Mercedes-Benz, not to be left behind, has also announced that they are considering an ultra expensive and range topping SUV to combat the likes of the Bentley and Rolls Royce SUV.

Although there is no definitive plan yet, sources at Mercedes-Benz have revealed how the SUV planning team has been keenly monitoring the situation in this top of the line segment and has started putting a plan of action in play for future cars that will cater exclusively to this segment. The new range topping SUV will of course get a Maybach nomenclature like the one on the range topping S-Class. 

The Maybach badged SUV will be bigger and more exclusive than the range topping GL-Class that is available today. It will also be available with more opulent seating combinations like a 4-seater and even a 3-seater configuration like the one available in the Volvo XC90 apart from the regular 5-seater and 7-seater options. The new Maybach SUV, if ever made will not be available before 2020 as it takes about 4-5 years to develop a new product. That said, there is certainly a market for such a car considering the fact that most of the GL and G Class SUVs sold globally are either in the AMG or top of the line guise that is available in each market.
