The game of power puts one forth to many risks, but Mercedes-Benz is letting the who’s who play it while keeping a check on the security quotient. The Mercedes-Benz S600 Guard is an armored version of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class which can widely be used at the diplomatic level to protect world leaders. The German car marque has officially pulled the wraps off its new car, and revealed it in full guise.
Mercedes-Benz states that its S600 Guard is the first vehicle in the world which has been comprehensively certified for the highest ballistic protection in resistance in class VR9. The S600 Guard gets special protective components developed from a special type of steel which is built into the cavities between the body structure and the outer skin of this armored vehicle. This vehicle also comes with special aramide components, which are heat resistant synthetic fibres, to provide additional protection to the traveller.
According to the German carmaker all the glass areas of the new Mercedes-Benz S600 Guard have been coated with polycarbonate on the inside, and they also feature a laminated structure. Other guard-specific equipments include a panic alarm system, opaque roller blinds, emergency fresh air system, hydraulic side windows, gimbal rear LED reading lamps, special rear cooling compartment and heated windscreen and side windows.
A 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine runs under the hood of this armored vehicle delivering 530PS of power and a staggering 830Nm of torque. The German carmaker hasn’t revealed the pricing details as of now, but this surely would be an expensive ride.
