The luxury carmaker has bagged awards in three different categories; Mercedes-Benz C-Class named '2015 World Car of the Year'

Mercedes-Benz has hit gold at the 2015 World Car of the Year awards held at the New York Auto Show. The luxury carmaker has won awards in three different categories. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class has been named the ‘2015 World Car of the Year’, while the S-Class Coupe and the AMG GT bagged the ‘2015 World Luxury Car’ trophy and the ‘2015 World Performance Car of the Year’ title respectively.

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class won the ‘2015 World Car of the Year’ title by winning over the other finalists in the competition including the Ford Mustang and the Volkswagen Passat. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe overcame the BMW i8 and Range Rover Autobiography Black LWB to win the ‘2015 World Luxury Car’ crown, while the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT bagged the ‘2015 World Performance Car’ award by beating the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe and BMW M4.

The BMW i8 has been named the ‘2015 World Green Car of the Year’, while the Citroen C4 Cactus bagged the ‘World Car Design of the Year’ title.

To qualify for the World Car of Year awards, a vehicle must be available for sale in at least two continents during the period beginning January 1, 2014 and ending May 31, 2015.
