The 38 day road trip with enthusiasts of all ages travelling across the continents of Europe and Asia through Germany, Russia and Nepal covered 16,800 kilometers finally ending in Kolkata. A part of the Mercedes Benz Driving Events, the caravan travelled from Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, across the Ural Mountains in Russia, Kazakhstan, Gobi Desert, the base camp of Mount Everest finally ending the drive in India.

Used as an assault vehicle before being offered in a civilian model in 1979, the G-wagon, characterised by its boxy design, which has more or less been unchanged over the years and three fully locking differentials, it is known for extreme off-roading capabilities.

Martin Breuninger, Managing Director, Mercedes-Benz Off-road, said “The G-Wagon is the pinnacle in automobile engineering when it comes to SUVs. Riding across landscapes and hostile terrains, this drive has only reinforced the G-Wagon’s supremacy as a vehicle that offers the best capabilities in the highest terrains of the world.”

The participants were equally excited to take the G-Wagons across continents. “We are incredibly thrilled to have been a part of this magnificent journey which drew to a conclusion in India. The G-Wagon consistently amazed us with its unbridled performance at every stage of our odyssey,” said a participant of the drive.
