Mercedes-Benz E-Class ‘Edition E’ launched at Rs 48.60 lakh

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class 'Edition E' will be the final version of the car before the new generation makes it to India. The Edition E will get subtle updates on the exterior and interior and comes with both petrol and diesel engines

Mercedes-Benz E-Class Edition E launched

Commemorating 20 years of the E-Class in India, Mercedes-Benz has launched the ‘Edition E’ here at the manufacturer’s Chakan plant at a starting price of Rs 48.60 lakh for the E200 petrol powered base variant. The diesel powered E250 CDi is priced at Rs 50.76 lakh while the top of the line E350 CDI is priced at 60.61 lakh (all prices ex showroom Pune).

The ‘Edition E’ is expected to be the final variant that the German automaker will be offering for the current E-Class with the next generation model expected to be introduced later in 2016.

The exteriors of the ‘Edition E’ maintain the Avantgarde styling. Unique badging, adorned on both front fenders and the trunk lid, speak for the car’s own identity. The ‘Edition E’ comes with the multi-spoke alloy wheels that are also offered with the E350 CDI model.

More stylish and sportier interiors match the exteriors of have been offered by the three-pointed star brand on the ‘Edition E’. Among the list of features, the ‘Edition E’ will carry the same ECO Start Stop fuel saving technology provided in other Mercedes-Benz models, adaptive airbags and brakelights, intelligent light system etc. The car will also have a rear infotainment package as standard. 

Mechanically, the duties on the sedan are performed by the same diesel engine from the E250CDI model. The 2.1-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged motor churns out 201PS of power and 500Nm of torque. The engine is mated to the 7G-Tronic Plus 7-speed automatic transmission that further transmits power to the rear wheel axle.
