Mercedes-Benz C250d launched in India

Yet another launch from the German luxury car manufacturer: Mercedes-Benz India has launched a new variant to the extremely popular C-Class in India. The new variant is a more powerful and top of the line C250d variant of the luxury sedan. The C250d will join the C220d and the C200 (petrol) in the current line up along with the fire breathing C63 AMG.

The new C250d has a more powerful 4-cylinder 2.1-litre diesel engine that makes 204PS of peak power and 500Nm of peak torque. The C250d can do a 0-100kmph sprint in 6.6-seconds while returning an ARAI approved fuel economy figure of 19.71kmpl. With the new variant, Mercedes will also offer more standard equipment on the C-Class like new 17-inch wheels, Active park assist, a new Garmin GPS mapping system and LED headlamps.

Speaking on the occasion, Roland Folger, MD and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “We always presented the best of our products and services to our elite patrons in the shortest possible lead time. The overwhelming response for the new C-Class drove us to commence the local manufacturing of the C 250 d simultaneously with its introduction in India. This key step is not merely a reflection of our localization strategy, but also underscores our unsurpassed commitment of driving value for our customers. We are confident that the local production of the C 250 d, will create high customer interest with additional value proposition and increased availability.”

The new Mercedes-Benz C250d will go up against the likes of the recently launched BMW 3 Series facelift, the Volvo S60 (and S60 Cross Country) along with the soon to be launched Jaguar XE diesel and the highly awaited Audi A4.
