Mercedes Benz records positive November sales

Posting 31 percent year-on-year growth (January to November 2011) with 6698 units against the backdrop of an overall slowdown in the Indian automobile industry, Mercedes-Benz India has had a rather better year.

With their sales going up, German car maker , Mercedes Benz India has recorded a 31 percent year on year growth in the January to November 2011 figures compared to last year. The manufacturer sold 6698 units this session compared to 5110 units in the January to November 2010.

The new C-class continues to be the star performer for Mercedes-Benz and with aggressive expansion, the company has spread its network over Tier II cities as well opening new facilities in Ahmedabad, Chennai, Ludhiana and Mumbai in November 2011 extending the network to 61 dealers across 29 cities.

Adding to this, through its ‘Star Lease’, launched in October 2011, Mercedes-Benz India now offers customized leasing solutions for the Indian automobile market. Peter T Honegg, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “Mercedes-Benz has always been committed to offering the latest and best to its valued consumers across its products and services. This is seen through our consistent launches and product offerings, which have helped continue our growth. While we are encouraged by the positive traction, we are also keeping a close eye on the market situation which will help us continue to focus upon long term, sustained and profitable growth.”
