Mercedes Benz Concept coupe SUV

The new Mercedes Benz Concept coupe SUV, has made its public debut at the Beijing Motor Show. The Concept SUV is aimed squarely at the BMW X6, and promises sportier on-road dynamics than the previous Mercedes SUVs.

Like its production sibling, the Concept coupe SUV is based on the latest M-Class. The SUV is over 4,876mm long, 1,828mm wide with a wheelbase of 2,916mm and sits on massive 22-inch wheels. Upfront, the concept car receives a prominent grille endowed with an oversized three-pointed star emblem. At the rear, the new SUV borrows its design elements from the recently unveiled S-Class Coupe, including  a rear window that has been rounded off at the top, slim tail lamps and a license plate incorporated into the rear bumper.

A 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbocharged engine will underpin the new SUV, sending its power through the nine-speed automatic transmission with torque converter lock-up to the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system. The concept SUV will churn out 330PS of power and 480Nm of torque. The dynamics are handled by the air suspension with selective damping and the Active Curve System taken from the Mercedes S-Class Coupe.

Mercedes has announced its plans of putting this concept SUV into production, but has not revealed the details about when the manufacturing process will begin.
