McLaren P13 spied for the first time

McLaren has been on a roll recently launching a series of different cars that help fill the void in their product portfolio while taking competition like Lamborghini and Ferrari head on. They recently launched a less powerful version of the popular 650S called the 625C (Club) with a cheaper price tag to target growing market like China. And now McLaren is poised to launch an all new cheaper entry level model.

Known internally as the P13, the new McLaren will feature more aggressive styling than ever before. From the spy pictures seen here, the trademark butterfly doors and carbon mirrors seem to have been retained. The rear end seems to have gone through a huge transformation though as compared to the other McLarens with a set of interesting tail lamps and large exhaust openings. The side vets seem to have gone smaller than seen before and the front showcases a more aggressive stance.

Power will like come from the familiar V8 twin-turbo 3.8-liter engine but it will be detuned to less than 600PS in order to avoid a clash with the 625C. Promising to be a "pure McLaren", the company's entry-level model will be unveiled in the second quarter of 2015. The P13 will also spawn a future cabriolet version along with more potent race-only variants.
