McLaren P1 GTR interior revealed

McLaren has given us a glimpse of the upcoming McLaren P1 GTR’s interior and has outlined what P1 GTR buyers can expect from owning such a special car. Only current P1 owners will be given the opportunity to buy a P1 GTR, making ownership extremely exclusive.

First teased in June and then unveiled in concept form at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the P1 GTR has now progressed to the production-ready stage. The interior of the P1 GTR features a MP4-23 F1 car inspired steering wheel. McLaren states the steering wheel is designed to make all controls accessible and user-friendly. Similar to a Formula 1 car, mode switches are placed on the centre of the steering wheel. This allows the driver to adjust the setup and characteristics of the vehicle without taking off their hands from the wheel.

The cabin also has lightweight DTM-style seats with a HANS-approved carbon fibre seat shell and six-point harnesses. McLaren claims that the driver's seat will be specifically setup for the owner and mounted directly to the chassis to reduce weight.

McLaren has also announced a P1 GTR driver program. The carmaker has stated that the program will take place at some of the most iconic Formula 1 circuits around the world. McLaren claims that the drivers will have a dedicated race team responsible for running the car including a personal driver coach and a head engineer who will work through telemetry and video analysis. The company also states that this one-to-one coaching will be bespoke to each driver and will be tailored to suit each driver’s individual skill set and driving ability.
