Maruti Suzuki sells 84,455 units in June 2013

Sales of Maruti Suzuki vehicles have dipped by 12.6 per cent in June 2013 on a Y-O-Y basis compared to the corresponding month in 2012

The slowdown of the Indian automobile market has hit Maruti Suzuki hard in June 2013. The country's largest car maker recorded a drop in sales of 12.6 per cent for the month of June 2013 on a Y-O-Y basis after having sold 84,455 units during the month as compared to 96,597 units sold during the corresponding month in 2012. 

The company has revealed that domestic sales fell 7.8 per cent during June 2013 over the same period in 2012 while exports fell by a staggering 43 per cent in June 2013 on a Y-O-Y basis.  

Sales of Maruti Suzuki’s small cars consisting of the 800, A-Star, Alto and WagonR, declined by 8.4 per cent to 31,314 units in June 2013 from 34,198 units in June 2012.

In the compact segment (comprising the Estilo, Swift and Ritz hatchbacks), Maruti Suzuki witnessed a 7.2 per cent fall in sales at 20,996 units in June 2013 as against 22,624 units in the same month in 2012.

The company's mid-size sedan SX4's sales declined by 23 per cent to 314 units in June 2013 from 408 units in the year-ago month. No units of the Kizashi were sold in June 2013 as compared to six units sold in June 2012.

Sales of Maruti Suzuki’s utility vehicles went down by 11.4 per cent to 4,997 units in June 2013 from 5,638 units in the year-ago month. Sales of Maruti’s vans dipped by 1.2 per cent to 6,833 units in June 2013 from 6,916 units in June 2012.

As for India’s bestselling car, sales of the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire fell by 8.7 per cent to 12,548 units during June 2013 from 13,741 units in the corresponding period in 2012.
