Maruti Suzuki sells 1,14,205 units in January 2013

Maruti Suzuki's domestic sales rise 2 per cent but total sales fall by 1.1 per cent as exports drop for the car maker

Maruti Suzuki, the country’s leading passenger car maker reports that the company has recorded a growth of 2 per cent in sales on a Year-on-Year basis for the month of January 2013 for domestic sales. However, when domestic sales and exports are combined the company has registered a drop in total sales (domestic + exports) of 1.1 per cent on a Y-o-Y basis. 

 

Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 1,14,205 units during January 2013, this includes 1,03,026 units sold in the domestic market and exports of 11,179 units. 

 

In comparision, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 1,15,433 units in January 2012 which included domestic sales of 1,01,047 units and 14,386 units of exports.

As can be seen in the table above, every category has registered a drop in sales in January 2013 when compared to sales of January 2012 due to market conditions. Its only the new Swift DZire and Ertiga launched later in 2012 that have registered an increase in sales for their segments.

 

Maruti Suzuki currently sells fifteen vehicles in India, namely, the Omni, Alto 800, Alto K10, Eeco, A-Star, Estilo, WagonR, Gypsy, Ritz, Swift, Swift DZire, Ertiga, SX4, Kizashi and the Grand Vitara. Prices for Maruti Suzuki vehicles in the country range between Rs 2.23 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the most affordable variant of the Omni to Rs 24.61 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for Grand Vitara automatic.
