Maruti Suzuki Ertiga facelift launched at Rs 5.99 lakh

Maruti Suzuki has launched the Ertiga facelift at a starting price of Rs 5.99 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. With the launch of the facelift, Maruti has also fitted the diesel Ertiga with its mild hybrid SHVS technology and now the diesel Ertiga’s prices start from Rs 7.55 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.

The exterior receives quite a few changes. The front bumper is new as are the fog lamp surrounds, now sporting a lot more chrome. The grille gets bathed in chrome as well. Maruti has also introduced a new alloy wheel design. 

The new Ertiga comes with a touchscreen infotainment system, with bluetooth, voice command, navigation system and a reverse parking camera as part of the kit. It’s the same unit borrowed from the Ciaz and the S-Cross. The Ertiga now also gets push-Start/Stop with smart key, electrical foldable ORVMs and a 2nd row accessory socket.

The big news for Ertiga buyers will be improved mileage for the both the petrol and diesel variants. The diesel obviously improved due to Maruti’s new mild hybrid SHVS technology, which essentially is a larger battery taking over ancillary duties and reducing loads on the engine. This has helped improve efficiency by 18 percent on paper with a ARAI rated figure of 24.52kmpl. The SHVS diesel variants get features like Idle Start Stop, Torque Assist, Brake Energy Regeneration and Gear Shift Indicator. The petrol engine in the Ertiga gets reduced friction levels and a higher compression ratio leading to better combustion and improved fuel efficiency according to Maruti. This has improved the petrol mill’s efficiency by 9 percent.
