Nissan’s 370Z has been with us for a few years now and although it is not exactly a slow or boring looking car, it does lack some zest about it. Nismo, Nissan’s in-house tuning legends, responsible for some of the craziest cars to have ever come out of Japan have managed to get their hands on the 370Z transforming it into a road going monster.
The changed made by Nismo are obvious. The GT-R-inspired functional and fully integrated aerodynamic bodykit has been redesigned to provide an aggressive and more aerodynamic look while optimizing front and rear downforce. Other changes include a new, deep front fascia with LED Daytime Running Lights, black headlight bezels, Nismo emblems and signature Nismo red stripe accent on the integrated front chin spoiler. The red accent continues down the redesigned side sills and on the black-color sideview mirrors. The unique Nismo rear spoiler has been reshaped and downsized while 19-inch wheels complete the styling package.
A 3.7-liter DOHC V6 engine with Variable Valve Event and Lift Control making a decent 255PS of peak power and 375Nm of torque powers the 370Z Nismo. The 370Z Nismo also gets an exclusively tuned H-configured exhaust system, which is specially optimized and calibrated resulting in a gain of 19PS over the original engine. The Nissan 370Z Nismo gets both a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed automatic with Downshift Rev Matching, Adaptive Shift Control and a manual mode with paddle shifters.
The Nissan 370 Nismo also gets completely independent suspension which ahs been further tuned to make the car handle better than its standard version. Additionally, the Nismo also gets a new strut brace for enhanced rigidity, a set of new performance dampers to improve handling along with a new set of springs and beefier stabilizer bars. The Nissan 370Z Nismo also gets a Limited Slip Differential and a set of Nissan Sport Brakes which add to the overall performance.
The Nissan 370 in its original form was introduced in India with much fanfare a few years ago and yet it failed to sell as Nissan expected. With the likes of the Porsche Boxster, Mercedes-Benz SLK and the then-new BMW Z4, the simple ‘driver’s car’ appeal of the 370Z failed to excite people. After almost non-existent sales, Nissan recently announced that the 370 would no longer be available in India. The Nismo powered Nissan 370Z though would be a whole different ballgame with its added exclusiveness, added oomph and inspiring looks.
