Maruti's bestselling small car achieves the feat in just 11 years and 9 months since its launch

“Alto’s superior fuel efficiency, compact sleek design, good manoeuvrability and overall low cost of ownership are the attributes that make it the best car for the first time buyers,” said Mayank Pareek, Chief Operating Officer, (Marketing and Sales) Maruti Suzuki.

Alto also manages to surprise everyone with its performance. Powering the original Alto is a peppy 800cc petrol engine that returns a claimed 19.7kmpl. The Alto K10 variant has a 998cc petrol engine which they say returns 20.2kmpl. Interior space is decent and fit and finish is what you would expect in a car at this price. The compact design, small turning radius, reliability and a highly competitive price tag manage to keep customers impressed.

The key attributes which have helped the Alto clock such astonishing sales numbers are its unmatched fuel efficiency, compact design, superior manoeuvrability and low running and maintenance costs. And the Alto seems set on setting up more milestones in the times to come.

The story is indeed factual. Even I am buying/booked this car. For a middle class person, low cost of ownership matters and this is where Alto passes off with flying colours.
