The K-Series engine powers several Maruti Suzuki petrol models including the Maruti Ertiga MPV

The country’s largest carmaker’s K-Series petrol engine which powers models such as the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, and the Maruti Suzuki Swift has surpassed the 25 lakh production mark.

Introduced in India back in 2008, this engine powered the Maruti Suzuki A-Star then. This series also powers alternate fuel (CNG and LPG) vehicles offered by the company besides popular compact sedan Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire and multi purpose vehicle Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.

Commenting on this, CV Raman, Executive Director, Engineering, Maruti Suzuki, said, “K-series is one of the most refined gasoline engine technologies available in India. It is able to combine best in class fuel efficiency with superior performance.”

“Engine refinement is an ongoing effort and going forward our new models will incorporate technologies that further enhance the attributes of high Fuel Efficiency, Low Emissions, superior performance and NVH,” he further added.

Maruti Suzuki India has seen a growth of 14.7 per cent in its total sales this ongoing financial year. The company's domestic sales grew by 12.6 per cent during the period, while its exports rose by 38.6 per cent.
