Since the government of India have slashed the VAT (Value Added Tax) on electric and hybrid vehicles under National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP), Maruti have also slashed the prices of its SHVS cars. Just like the Camry Hybrid, the price reduction has taken place only in the Delhi-NCR region. The VAT now stands at 5 percent from the previous 12.5 percent, following which the Ciaz and Ertiga SHVS saw a price cut of Rs 69,000 and Rs 62,000, respectively.
The Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki, or “SHVS” as the company calls it, is only available with the diesel versions of the Ciaz and Ertiga. The petrol versions will continue to sell at their current prices.
The SHVS mild hybrid technology implements a start/stop feature thanks to an integrated starter generator (IGS) motor that seamlessly carries on this operation. The IGS motor is coupled to the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre multijet diesel motor, which is good for 90PS of power and 200Nm of torque. This system also implements a brake energy regeneration system that helps in charging the battery. It is because of this technology that the Ciaz manages a best-in-class fuel economy figure of 28.09kmpl, while the Ertiga too gets a decent figure of 24.52kmpl.
The prices of all the diesel variants are listed below (Ex-showroom, New Delhi):
