New facility to boost production of existing plant

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

Maruti Suzuki has recently acquired 600 acres of land in Gujarat, located about 40km away from its existing site near Mehsana. The new acquisition is in view of future expansion once the capacity of the first is exhausted

Maruti has no plans to move out of Haryana, but it expects a six to seven per cent growth in FY 2013-2014 and the Gujarat facilities will enable it to meet the rising demand. The company also plans to set up a new 700-acre manufacturing facility in Haryana.

The capacity in the first phase will be 2.5 lakh units a year. The forecast for the next financial year entails single-digit growth, no better than the current fiscal and exports are expected to be less than 1.27 lakh units earlier.

The company has been exporting about 40,000 completely built and completely knocked down units to Indonesia.
