At the 2012 DefExpo we saw different types of military vehicles ranging from light military trucks and light armoured vehicles to fully armoured convoy trucks and even a large robust armoured Mine Protected Defense vehicle from Mahindra, which certainly caught everyone’s attention.

However, a significant development at this year’s military spec vehicle exhibition was the strong presence of battle-ready All-Terrain vehicles, the likes of Maini Group’s TOMCAR, which was showcased and subsequently launched during expo.

A military grade high-performance all terrain vehicle originally designed for military and border patrol use, the TOMCAR is built to go almost anywhere and features a strong, fully-welded steel tube chassis and heavy duty four-wheel independent suspension.

Speaking at the announcement of the TOMCAR’s arrival in India at the 2012 DefExpo, Sandeep Maini, Chairman of Maini Group  said, “We are delighted to launch the TOMCAR in India. With the Indian Defence, Paramilitary and Homeland Security scouting aggressively for All Terrain Vehicles, we intend to promote TOMCAR amongst them as part of their modernization drive.”

Just to give you a fair idea of this vehicle’s reputation beyond borders, the TOMCAR is deployed by the Israeli Military, the US Customs & Border Patrol and the British Army in Afghanistan. It has been customized for the military and border forces to carry Heavy Machine Guns, Anti-tank guided missile launchers, Automatic Grenade Launcher and even developed as two separate armoured and unmanned versions.

These vehicles are designed to be safe, rugged and extremely dependable and seeing their true potential the Maini Group has already built a manufacturing facility in Bangalore to cater to both its domestic and overseas TOMCAR customers.
