Mahindra-Reva e2o 4-door

The Mahindra-Reva e2o is the only full electric car you can buy in India and is a car that we here at ZigWheels rather like due to its compact dimensions and zippy city performance. That said, it has never really been popular in India due to several reasons. The biggest reason is the fact that the e2o is priced way too high when compared to its more conventional options. The other reason why the Mahindra-Reva e2o has not been popular is the fact that it is a 2-door hatchback and not the conventional 4-door hatch that we here in India are so used to.

Now though, Mahindra-Reva has plans to launch a more conventional 4-door version of their e2o in order to make it a more popular car in India. The new Mahindra-Reva e2o in its 4-door guise will be launched sometime later this year. It will possibly get better performance and longer range than the e2o currently gets. The new e2o 4-door will also be priced a little more competitively with the government due to announce a very lucrative tax and excise cut for electric vehicles in lieu of rising pollution and environmental concerns in all major metros around the country.

As seen in the pictures here, the new 4-door variant of the Mahindra-Reva e2o will be longer than the current car and will also get a new front and rear look. The new e2o will also get a lot more space on the interior front with much more luggage storage space and enough space for five adults. The new Mahindra-Reva e2o in 4-door guise will also carry forward the same high tech interior and gadgetry that you get in the 2-door version with conveniences like the app-connect function which lets you keep a tab on the car’s battery charge and range apart from other features.

The current 2-door Mahindra-Reva e20 features a 48-volt Lithium-Ion battery setup with an electric motor that makes 26PS of peak power and 54Nm of peak torque. The e2o gets a rear wheel drive setup and an automatic gearbox that offers a zippy drive solution. The new 4-door Mahindra-Reva e2o will possibly be unveiled in prototype form at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo alongside other potential cars from the Indian automotive manufacturer.
