Mahindra XUV5OO registers over 5,000 bookings

With over 35,000 test drive requests for the new SUV and more than eight lakh visitors on Mahindra's XUV500 contest website alone, the launch of this 'high-octane' vehicle has been nothing short of a nationwide spectacle

In just under two weeks since the launch of Mahindra and Mahindra’s first ever global SUV offering, the numbers have already begun to sing songs of its parading success. As true veterans of India’s progressive SUV space, the team at Mahindra as the numbers now suggest did indeed set the perfect stage for their all new AWD head turner, that has truly caught India by storm.

With over 5,000 bookings for the new XUV500 already in place, Mahindra’s pre-launch marketing and customer involvement activities seem to have fetched spectacular results, most of which have effortlessly crossed the six figure mark.


A dedicated XUV500 website that offered the first ever teasers of the vehicle two weeks prior to its launch here in India, received over 8.5 lakh unique visitors. An engaging ‘Guess the Price’ contest, that was part of this specially designed website, attracted as many as 1.15 lakh entries, making the contest a crucial digital touch point in creating a massive potential customer base for the vehicle. On Facebook, the fan base for this vehicle has already risen to over 66,000 fans since being created.

Like we saw during the launch of the new Mahindra Bolero, not too long ago, the indigenous SUV maker did make provisions for a live webcast of the XUV500’s official launch and the subsequent press conference, which as a whole attracted 1.5 lakh viewers all over India.



With bookings for the stylish SUV open across five major cities in India (Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai), a cheetah inspired television commercial for the XUV500 went on air on 5th October, giving further momentum to the euphoric consumer reaction to this unique sports utility vehicle from Mahindra.

Speaking on the response to the XUV500, Rajesh Jejurikar, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra said, “It is a delight for us at M&M that the XUV500 has garnered 5000+ bookings in a mere 6 days and across only 5 cities. With the launch of new XUV 500, Mahindra’s RISE philosophy that pointed at challenging the limits of conventional thinking and the innovative use of resources, now suddenly starts to make a lot of sense. With clear signs of early success (beginner’s luck some would call it) for the first ever global SUV offering from Mahindra, the coming months will be far more definitive in projecting the XUV500’s chances of becoming a long-term success first here in India, and later maybe even in its destined international markets.
