Mahindra to allot the XUV500 through a draw in case booking requests exceed 7,200
Mahindra & Mahindra announced on Monday that it will open the second phase of bookings for its popular XUV5OO for a limited period of 10 days only, starting January 25, 2012. The bookings will now extend to 19 cities – Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh/Panchkula, Ludhiana, Jallandhar, Patiala, Kochi, Trivandrum, Calicut, Trissur, Coimbatore, Nagpur and Nasik.
M&M has decided to undertake an XUV5OO draw in the next round of bookings in case the requests exceed 7,200 to ensure a reasonable waiting period for the customers and a fair and transparent selection. Audit and consulting firm Deloitte has been roped in to validate the draw process. Details of the draw process will be announced on the brand’s website, www.mahindraxuv500.com, shortly. A nominal participation fee of Rs. 80,000 will be payable. The draw application period begins January 25, 9 am and ends February 3rd, 7 pm. The results will be announced by February 15th, 2012.
Speaking on the re-opening of bookings for the XUV5OO, Vivek Nayer, Sr Vice President - Marketing, Automotive Division, M&M said “It is a delight for us at Mahindra to re-open the bookings for the much-acclaimed XUV5OO and also extend the launch to 19 cities. To ensure that our customers do not have to wait beyond a reasonable period, we are undertaking an XUV5OO draw, which will ensure fair and transparent allotment of the vehicle to our customers who get selected in the draw.”
Bookings for the XUV5OO were deferred temporarily just four months after the SUV’s launch with M&M selling out over 8,000 units in just 10 days.
The XUV5OO's popularity can also be gauged from the fact that it won the prestigious ‘Car of the Year’, ‘SUV of the year’ and ‘Viewers Choice Car of the Year’ by ET-Zigwheels for 2011.
