Mahindra XUV 500 and Maruti trump benchmark study
The Auto (Car) Reputation Benchmark is the first in a series of reports that bluebytes is planning to publish across various sectors

Automobiles in India and the world alike have been judged and rigorously tested on a range of parameters, with one aim, to separate the best from the rest. But, in the Indian context, and more importantly within the automotive fraternity, where image and reputation are strong purchase motivators, a new kind of study has been born.
One of India’s leading news research agency, bluebytes News Private Ltd. (bluebytes) recently announced the result of their inaugural Reputation Benchmark Study for the Auto (Cars) Sector in Mumbai.
A result of over 11,000 hours of research and careful analysis of more than 75,000 news articles related to the Auto (Cars) sector for the period between October 2011 to March 2012 has ranked the Maruti Suzuki as the Most Reputed Car Company and Mahindra XUV 500 (Read : Road Test) as the Most Reputed Car Brand.
SLIDESHOW:

What’s interesting to see in the benchmark bound statistical data is that the average percentage difference between Reputation Scores of the first three ranked car companies is a steep 26%. However, the gap between 3rd (Tata Motors) and 4th ranked companies (Hyundai) is in single digits, while the Reputation Score differences between 5th (Audi) and 6th (Mercedes) is a phenomenal 48%.
The Tata Nano finished as the second most Reputed car brand in India, though the XUV took a whopping 74% lead over it to claim first prize. These results are significant and for the sake of credibility of their findings, bluebytes tracked over 75,000 articles tracked were in English and Hindi, and the news ink they received was nearly 25 million square centimeters.
