Mahindra Two Wheelers, a part of the US$ 16.5 billion Mahindra Group, sold 12,415 two wheelers in May 2015, from 13,197 units in the same period last year.

Domestic sales at Mahindra Two Wheelers showed a marginal decline from 11,502 units in May 2014 to 10,428 units in May 2015.

Overall exports however, marked improvement for Mahindra. In all, Mahindra exported 1987 units in May 2015, up from 1695 units in the same period last year.

Mahindra Two Wheelers was founded in 2008 when Mahindra and Mahindra acquired the business assets of Kinetic Motor Company Limited. The company has a manufacturing facility near Indore in Madhya Pradesh, and a Research and Development unit located at Chinchwad, Pune.

Mahindra's Centuro motorcycle has been well received by the entry level commuter market, but so far, the company has not been as successful in creating  a significant presence in the two wheeler space. Mahindra's small dealer network is also cause for concern among consumers. The company says it is planning to increase its dealer network to 500 across the country by the end of FY 2015-16.

Last year, the company forayed into the 110cc automatic scooter space with the Gusto. A 300cc motorcycle, codenamed Mojo, has been under development and testing for some time now. The Mojo has generated quite a lot of interest among two wheeler enthusiasts, but so far, the product seems to be going through yet another round of testing. It's been almost five years since the Mojo was first showcased at the Auto Expo.
