Like always, the first race of the day which was the Micro Max category was an intriguing affair. Yash Aradhya who had won the inaugural round looked strong the entire weekend as he had won both the heats and seemed all set for yet another win. Aradhya led most part of the race with a comfortable lead over his rival Paul Francis. But with only three laps remaining in the race, Francis started hiking his race pace which meant he was on Aradhya’s tail in the final lap.

With only two corners remaining before the chequered flag, Francis was able to squeeze past his team-mate to clinch a memorable win. Francis had narrowly missed out on winning Round 1 as Aradhya had overtaken him in the penultimate lap and the victory at Kolhapur would have boosted the young lad’s confidence. But the star of the race was undoubtedly Shahan Ali Mohsin, who was unlucky to be served a technical disqualification in the pre-final and had to begin in 11 spot on the grid. Despite the setback the Agra lad raced with valour to climb eight positions up the grid and finish in third position. With 113 points, Francis leads with a slender one point lead over Aradhya whereas Mohsin with 98 points completes the top three of the championship standings.

The Junior Max Category was relatively a sober affair as Kush Maini of Dark Don Racing dominated proceedings. Maini had a flawless outing as he led the race from start to finish. BPC Racing’s Ricky Doninson was in contention for the race lead in the earlier stages of the race but once Maini settled down he was able to etch out a comfortable lead over him. Speaking about his battle with Doninson, Maini said, “Ricky was putting a lot of pressure on me throughout the race and I had to keep my game up and he gave me very tough competition." The final step on the podium was taken by Aaroh Ravindra who was involved in a race long scuffle with Akash Gowda. With this victory, Maini leads the championship with 115 points, with Ravindra in second a further nine points behind and Gowda in third place with 102 points.

With local lads, Chittesh Mandody and Dhruv Mohite in contention for winning the Senior Max category a large crowd had gathered at the tracks to support them. Mandody made a clean start to hold on to his pole advantage and lead the race whereas an error in judgement meant Mohite was relegated to sixth place. Ameya Bafna climbed upto second place whereas Nayan Chatterjee was in third position.  With Mandody out, the race lead fell into Bafna’s hand with Chatterjee in second place and Vishnu Prasad in third position.

The local fans had something to cheer as Mohite was on a charge and by the halfway stage was up in fourth place and in contention for a podium finish. He was able to overtake Vishnu Prasad to take third place to the delight of the local crowd. By this moment Bafna was still going strong in first place and had a comfortable lead over Chatterjee who despite his best efforts couldn’t cut the Mumbai drivers lead. But with only three laps remaining Vishnu Prasad was able to pass Mohite for third place. While Bafna crossed the finish line ahead of his Rayo Racing team-mate to register an important win. Bafna now leads the Senior Max championship with 109 points followed by Dhruv Mohite (100) and Vishnu Prasad at third with 99 points.
